With the high demand of quality assignments or academic papers in schools and colleges, students have turned to the internet or each other's work to pass or get praised. During their first classes, most teachers define clearly what they term as plagiarism, hoping that if any work is given, the learners will follow the rules and make original efforts. Some may not do it, but most follow the rules and check, no matter how poorly to fish out students who commit the vice and punish them. Teachers can also look at obviously sophisticated submissions, which might be stolen, or check paraphrasing, while a section consider friendship among students and go for friends who presented similar work.

Although these checkers are most effective for printed work that's submitted in soft copies, they do not cause many problems given how much technology has helped as work can be submitted online. These checkers are really accurate since they compare a single article against millions of others on the internet, making it hard to miss anything or for any pasted work to go unnoticed.

For teachers who know and understand their students well, they can easily know friends among the latter, group the submissions according to those friendships and check for any similarities. This is because lazy learners who don't concentrate, especially in universities and high schools always copy the work of their friends at the last minute and some only change the name. Though this method could be helpful, it might be ineffective since a teacher must take long to study their students' relationships, leaving the period before that to chance or no checks. Moreover, a smart student is more likely to seek help from a stranger than a friend since they know that their allies will be suspected first for copying. In such a case, an instructor will never get any result if they use this way unless they are smart enough to apply another way in addition, just to be sure.

A student, especially in their first year in school can rarely write something sophisticated, hence such a case would either be rare, whose chances are low, or simply a copycat. If a teacher is careful enough, they will notice submissions that look floppy and nonreadable yet could be great pieces if synonyms were used, meaning they have been paraphrased. When a something sounds familiar, a tutor could consider checking it to see they had seen it before or it's just a coincidence.

Although they may have a lot to go through, more so those in private schools, teachers should thoroughly check students' assignments for copying since it can imply lack of understanding. Learners' rights come first and letting them benefit from something they should not doesn't meet those rights, it infringes on them. Therefore, whether it's through friendships, writing styles, checkers or familiarity, a teacher should ensure that they catch copycats to stop copying.
